The link at the end of this post will start a video of Sarah Palin (2008 Rep. VP Candidate) as she takes a moment to speak to her home church. I don’t care what you might think of the republican party or their message, I think this lady is a class act all the way. For me it is more important that our nations leaders have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ than any other single thing. No mater if you believe in God or not you must realize that if we elect ungodly leaders then God can not bless us as a nation. When I say bless don’t get me wrong. I don’t mean that we will all be rich and have everything that we want in life. I mean He will bless us and sustain us no matter how good or bad times get.
If we keep electing leaders that basically thumb their nose at God, sooner or later God will turn his back on us. Soon, he will remove his protection from us. The only reason this country is where it is today as a world power is because God’s hand has been with us. If you are one of those that think that belief in God is optional you have fooled yourself. What you believe and what that belief causes you to do or act like has a direct impact on what will become of you. If the nation feels this way then we all are in big trouble.
You may say I don’t care, I am just going to live for today. I am going to party hard and have fun. Who cares about tomorrow. Tomorrow may never come anyway. We might be dead tomorrow. So live for today. Well what if you are right? What if by tomorrow you are dead. What then? If God does not exist then no big deal right? But if God does exist and you have basically ignored Him or even hated Him all your life, what do you think He will do to you. Do you think he will invite you into Heaven? Why would He? What have you done to deserve Heaven? Could you ever do enough good to deserve to live in Heaven? The Bible says no one deserves to go to Heaven. It says we are all sinners and we have all fallen short of the glory of God. But the good news is that it also says that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light. That none can go to the Father but by Him. It says there is no other name under Heave by which you can be saved.
What that means is something so simple that most people have a hard time believing it at first. To go to Heaven all you have to do is to admit you are a sinner, then ask Jesus to forgive you for your sins, and then invite Him to be your Lord and Savior. The Bible promises all who do that will be saved. You only have to do it once and that is all it takes. Your sins will be forgiven, your destiny will be secured, and your life will finally mean something.
