Some of you may be aware that I use google reader to keep up with items from the web that interest me. I usually have links to friends blogs in the reading list so I can see when they post something. I also get news from sources like CNN.COM on my reader (I prefer Fox News but they don’t do such a good job with their rss feeds).
Anyway last week on my CNN reading list was this story “Bus passenger beheaded seat mate, witness says”. This story really got to me. The way it was reported with so little detail, but what was there was very disturbing. I could not believe what I was reading. What a horrible thing for one human to do to another. It just about made me sick to my stomach. I do not wish to do the same to my few readers, however I wanted to post what little follow up I have found to this article.
The original CNN report did not tell who the attacker was, or the victim. Well I did a little looking around and found out that the victim was Tim McLean. Tim was (according to his friends) a good guy who made everyone laugh. He was pretty much of a loner and would stay away from a fight. He sounds like a guy anyone would have wanted for a friend. ABC News has a little more information on their site about the whole murder (here). What really gets me is the jerk that killed Tim is not getting a first degree murder charge, instead the Canadian court system is charging him with second degree murder because they don’t think the murder was premeditated. I don’t know much about Canadian Law but it looks like to me like this guy should get the book thrown at him for the horror of this crime and how coldly he carried it out. This guy could have steeped right out of the latest Quentin Tarantino sicko thriller.
